Bilbao is a magnificent city (Dover it is not) and it is a shame that we have to leave so soon
The hotel reception is also very grand
When we get to the Pride of Bilbao we have to wait forever but finally get on board to find that we are in a wonderful
cabin - mainly because of the amazing power of money. We have two bathrooms, a big bedroom with a double bed and a nice
sitting room with a big settee which I immediately hog for the rest of the journey.
Later we go to see
The Soloist.
We are the only people there. It is quite a good film but yet again the hero is a writer - yawn.
In the afternoon, the British Airforce use the ship as part of an exercise - lots of helicopters flying overhead.
Later we arrive in Portsmouth where most of what is left of the navy is parked up
From there we drive to London
The most exciting thing today is the car wash in Norwich - very clean.
I spend most of the morning at the dentists. Ouch
We set off for Leeds where I have to see somebody - the city has become rather splendid. So there is at least something to show for all the billions pissed away over the last few years.
It seems that Woolworths in Altrincham has been replaced by Iceland - that is the wonder of capitalism. Something useless has been replaced by something very useful without endless committees and surveys.
