Yet again we ascend The Rock on foot. This stime we manage all four flights of the Mediterranean Steps without stopping in
sixteen minutes but rush the last fifty steps which leaves me totally exhausted but triumphant. When we get to the "cafe"
I manage to put the wrong amount of money into the wrong machine and press the wrong button. Considering this it could
have been worse.
Once outside we have a chance to observe the band of primitive creatures milling about - their minds full of sex and food.
But enough about the tourists - what about the apes? What do they think about all day?
We set off from Gibraltar Airport for Manchester but high winds mean that our plane cannot land to pick us up so have to go
to Malaga in a fleet of buses.
We arrive in the UK three hours late but it could have been a lot worse. On the way I have a meal which is amazingly good
compared with the old days when the meal was "free" and therefore terrible. You get what you pay for.
In the evening we go to see
Gomorrah
at the Knutsford cinema. It is a masterpiece.
Tonight we go to see Slumdog Millionaire at the Trafford Centre which is also a masterpiece.
We are now somewhat carried away with enthusiasm for "Indian Cinema" (not that Slumdog Millionaire is really an Indian Film ) and we go to see Chandni Chowk to China which is such unbelievable garbage that we walk out after a while. We then attempt to eat at Frankie & Benny's but they close an hour early because "it is very quiet tonight." Finally, we eat at The cafe Rouge which is pretty good.
We make another attempt to eat at Frankie & Benny's and this time we are successful
We fly back to Malaga and then drive to Gibraltar in a hire car
I am ill in bed all day but my girlfriedn photographs HMS Edinburgh (D97) which is parked up in Gibraltar bay.
